Bring it in the words you would use with your own team — a symptom, a suspicion, a number that does not sit right, a decision you keep deferring. Unpolished is fine and frankly more useful: a tidied brief is usually a brief that has already had the interesting part edited out of it.

You do not need to arrive with the diagnosis. That part is our first deliverable.

It is spent entirely on establishing whether there is a problem here worth your time and ours. We will tell you whether we think the thing you have described is the real one. Sometimes the answer is no and the conversation ends there, which is a good outcome — for you immediately, and for us eventually.

If there is something here, we agree a restatement and a scope fixed to the outcome before either of us commits to anything. We do not bill by duration and we do not profit from inconclusive work.
